How to Prepare: 1 large egg; 2 tbsps cold water; 1 tbsp margarine or butter (if butter is used, this cake is not pareve), softened; 1 tbsp boiling water; mixing bowl and mixer. Makes about 6 servings. Preparation Time: About 10 minutes. Bake Time: 30 minutes. Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease enclosed baking pan. Mix because of the rich, thick texture of this batter, mixing by hand is not recommended. Empty large bag of mix into mixing bowl. Add cold water and egg. Beat on low speed for 4 minutes. Spread batter evenly in greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Frosting Prep: Empty small bag of frosting mix into small bowl. Add 1 tablespoon margarine or butter and mix. Gradually add 1 tablespoon boiling water until desired spreading consistency is reached. Stir until smooth and spread on completely cooled brownies. Cut into squares and serve. Tempting Variations: After mixing batter, fold 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, pecans or candy in the batter. (To fold, slide rubber scraper down through center of batter across bottom and up side of bowl, overturning batter).
